Just 45 minutes from Hobart, Dunalley is a small town by the sea with a canal and swing bridge separating it from the Tasman Peninsula.
Affected but also in a way spared from annihilation which could have befallen them in the disastrous fires that roared through the area in January 2013, Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed sits above the town, overlooking Bangor Vineyard, Blackman Bay, Marion Bay and Norfolk Bay where some of Australia's best oysters are grown.

Now it is a stop on the way to or from Port Arthur or a retreat after work on Friday nights when it is open in summer until 9.00pm. Award winning wines, cheese & antipasto platters and dishes of the day plus great coffee make this one of my favourite weekend call-bys.

Enjoying a glass of sparkling at sunset at Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed in Dunalley. It's amazing to be able to see the vineyard where the grapes are grown from our seat on the deck. Beyond the vineyard is the ocean, and in it the oyster lease where the oysters are collected daily - total paddock to plate experience #foodiefinds
Life is pretty good out here 🤘
